Must-Haves For The Modern Marketer: Blogs

Technology evolves so quickly, meaning that marketers are always looking for ways to keep up with these advancements, and stay on top. Digital marketing is at the epicentre of Social Star’s mission, and we employ several strategies to maintain effective marketing results in keeping with the trends of the moment.

Here are our tips and insights on the must-haves for modern marketing, and how to create a successful brand in the digital age.

Welcome to our blog about blogs! In today’s piece, we will discuss the value that blog-writing can bring to any business operating in the digital age, and how you can get started with creating blogs for your own company. Blogs can take many forms, and whilst traditionally they may have existed on blog specific websites, many companies are choosing to simply add a page to their website featuring blog posts. This makes the content easily accessible to your audience, and thus will gain more attention. You don’t have to be a stellar writer to master the art of blogging, but you do need to have an idea of the direction you’d like your company’s image to go.

WHY SHOULD I START A BLOG?

Blogs for businesses have many benefits. They provide an opportunity to build up your brand image by creating a company ‘voice’. Do you want to come off casual and witty or serious and persuasive? The tone in which you write your blogs is crucial to how they are received, and how your brand’s ‘vibe’ is perceived as a whole.

Another benefit of blogging is the ability to stand out from your competitors. Not all businesses are on-board the blogging train, so by having one yourself, you are offering a more diverse range of resources to your customers. This way, not only are you selling a product, but you’re adding the benefit of additional information about related topics to keep them coming back instead of reaching out to your competitors.

The last, but certainly not least, benefit of blogs we’d like to highlight is their ability to show off your team’s passion about their industry and their products. This is another great way to stand out from competitors… showing that you love what you do and the industry you operate in. It is almost always more appealing for consumers to purchase from a business who are clearly driven and excited about their field, as it has the implied result that the products will be of a higher standard, due to the clear passion and care you put into the business.

WHO WRITES THE BLOGS?

This question really comes down to personal preference. At Social Star, we write the blogs for many of our clients, as they often do not have the time or expertise to sit down and write a blog. However, we always discuss the type of content, the places they’ll be posted and the tone of voice with our clients before we start. Having said this, some clients prefer to write the blogs themselves as they feel it’s more genuine coming from their own voice. Ultimately, the decision to write them yourself or employ a marketing team such as Social Star to write blogs for you is completely dependent on the company, and won’t take away from blogging’s many benefits either way.

WHAT DO WE WRITE ABOUT?

Blogs do not have to be written about your products specifically, in fact the best ones are often about related information, as we stated above, to diversify your brand offerings. Take this blog right here: we are providing digital marketing tips, but we are not trying to directly sell you our services. This allows for your company to express their passions about aspects of the field. For example, if you’re a medical clinic, you may have blogs about recent research updates, or a sporting club may have blogs about healthy eating and staying fit. The options are endless.

Blogs are filled with benefits for your company image and sales, and are very easy to get started with: whether it’s you or us that writes them. If you want to stand out from your competitors and build your brand reputation, blogging is the next step for your business.
